Dr. Raja Ahmad Shaharul

Medical Advisor

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC)

Dr. Shaharul is the Medical Advisor for the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC). He is MHTC’s key reference point for
medical related matters, as well as the medical liaison for government to government medical travel initiatives.

A medical practitioner by profession, Dr. Shaharul brings with him about 20 years of medical experience, of which 11 years were
spent in the United Kingdom. Dr. Shaharul holds a Specialist Degree in General Practice from The Royal College of General
Practitioners (MRCGP, United Kingdom) and a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from The Royal College of Physicians (DGM, United
Kingdom). He obtained his Medical Degree from Queen’s University of Belfast (MB BCh BaO, United Kingdom) and is also a
certified Human Resource Developmental Fund (HRDF) trainer.

Previously a Medical Advisor and Consultant to Elements Medical Fitness, one of the first medically integrated health and fitness
centres in Malaysia, Dr. Shaharul has gained key experience and knowledge in the field of medical advisory. Prior to that, he was
the Head of Health Screening and Wellness Centre in Beacon International Specialist Centre. He was also a Senior Lecturer at the
Primary Care Medicine Department, University Institut Teknologi MARA. Dr. Shaharul’s experience in the medical industry has
proven immensely invaluable to his current role as Medical Advisor.

Dr. Shaharul’s interest in healthcare travel started while he was practicing in the UK, when he observed his patients going abroad
for medical treatment. This interest was further cultivated when he was back in Malaysia practicing and noticed that he was
treating a significant number of foreign patients.

Dr. Shaharul is very passionate about Malaysia’s healthcare travel industry and the effect it will have on the country’s nation
building effort. His clinical passion lies in chronic disease prevention, lifestyle modification and corporate wellness.
